Passover is early this year, first night Seder is Monday 29 March. The seven-day holiday (eight if you are outside Israel) offers ample opportunity for trying all manner of wines.

Na'ama and I put our heads together to come up with a short list of wines that we can recommend for the holiday as passover wine.

Spring in Israel can be a hit and miss affair weather wise so we should prepare for both hot and cold weather.

For the warmer days we can recommend some nicely chilled whites, our new Unoaked Chardonnay is bright and fruity with and underlying tropical character and absolutely no oak.
 

Moscato is an easy drinking sweet wine with a low alcohol (5%). Its sweet pallet, bright floral nose and light bubbles make it a family favorite, great as a passover wine.

Viognier is for the white wine drinker who is looking for something a little more sophisticated. Barrel aged for 6 months for added complexity this elegant passover wine is showing hints of vanilla peaches and honey. 

For this of you looking for a Red wine we can offer a special treat this year,

Cabernet Sauvignon Single Vineyard from the Meron vineyard, this unctuous wine is loaded with forest berries and mint and eucalypt character. It is a very special wine which we only make in the most outstanding years.

Another special wine is the Zinfandel; this is a full bodied wine with an incredible spicy character. We make a very limited quantity of this wine every year.

Finally the jewel in the crown is the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon this is a winemaker's wine, the best fruit aged in barrels for about 18 month, with no expense spared. The wine is complex and elegant it is dark purple wine and is full of forest fruit and eucalypt characters, together with more complex notes of vanilla, chocolate and tobacco. Also if you don’t open the wine over Passover it will keep for many months to come.
