The Jerusalem wine fair began last night (15 August) and runs through till Thursday evening 18 August. It is held in the Sculpture Garden of the Israel Museum from 19.00-23.00. Entrance costs NIS70 and tickets are available at the door.

Our Stand at the Wine Fair in Jerusalem

We have a booth there and are showing some really interesting wines.

For those of you who come early, say, before 9.30 these wines will be on offer for tasting:

Whites:

Alma Chardonnay – Viognier  2010

Rose 2010

Reds:

Alma Cabernet – Merlot 2009

Alma Shiraz – Mourvedre 2009

Shiraz D 2009

Zinfandel D 2009

As you can see it is not the usual Cabernet and Merlot staples that you see from most of the wineries in Israel. The idea is to show you something a little bit different.

If you come after 9.30 then I am afraid it will be potluck, as we will not be opening any new bottles of the exotica above and we will be pouring red and white canaan. Why 9.30, you ask? Well, it seems that that is the watershed period when the visitors change from the genuinely interested to the less sophisticated drinker for whom the only beauty in the wine lies in the amount of ethanol it contains. So do come early, the event begins at 7.00pm, leave the car at home and enjoy the evening.
